LONG SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL 

Notes of the meeting of the Long Sutton Parish Council held on Thursday 23 February 2023 commencing at 7.00 p.m. at the Former Reform Church, London Road, Long Sutton 

Present:   With Cllr J Clarey in the Chair there were present: Councillors M Ladbrook, G Garratt, T Watts, D Cawthorn, C Broughton, F Pearson, G Garratt, E Adams, F Heinrich-Tiller.

OPEN FORUM:  A resident of Seagate Road asked if there had been any update in relation to the possibility of lowering the speed limit in Seagate Road from 40 mph to 30 mph.

RESPONSE: The Chairman advised that he was not aware of an update as of yet.

1.   APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies were received from Karen Treacher. Clerk/RFO and D Cllr J Tyrrell.

2.    TO RECEIVE DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST or DPIs.

No matters were of interest or DPIs were declared

3.   NOTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 26 JANUARY 2023

Action: It was resolved to approve the notes as minutes and a true record of the meeting held on 26 January 2023.

4.   CLERKS REPORT

There were no matters to report in the absence of the Clerk.

5.   CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Cllr J Clarey stated

•   that the new bins and picnic benches for the town parks were on order and should be ready to install soon.
•   He also advised that he and Cllr Garratt would look at the Poster Point to ascertain if it can be repaired.
•   All trees and shrubs had been cut back at the common pit to open up the area to try and stop unsocial behaviour.
•   Plan to order one seat for common pit.
•   Gave update on grants to revamp cinder ash play area and education hub in council office.
•   That he had spoken to the contractor to repair the inspection cover at cinder ash playgroup.

6.   FINANCIAL MATTERS

a)   To resolve to approve Invoices for Payment

Action: The invoices for payment were approved.

b)   To resolve to receive the Report of Cleared Payments since Last Meeting

Action: The cleared payments were approved.

The Chairman advised that the invoices and bank statements were available for inspection.

c)   To resolve to receive the Annual Audit Report

Action: The Council resolved to receive the Annual Report and act upon recommendations made by  the External Auditor.

d)   To resolve to discuss the Christmas Lighting Event and approve any actions required

Action: The Council resolved to consider a Grant Application from the Lighting Up Committee in order to the hold the event again in December 2023.

Resident- Request to hold public events.

Action: Parks Committee to check the cemetery during scheduled park inspections and arrange removal of any rubbish.

Action: Resolved to support the amendment subject to any planning permissions required.

9.      TO RESOLVE TO CONFIRM A DATE FOR THE PARKS MEETING AND INSPECTION

Action: The Parks Committee resolved to schedule a meeting of the Committee for Tuesday 07 March 2023 at 2.30 p.m.

10.   TO RESOLVE TO CONFIRM A DATE FOR A MEETING OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE

Action: The Council resolved to hold an events committee meeting on Monday 13 February 2023

11.   MEMBERS COMMENTS

Members raised the issue of household waste not being collected by SHDC from 2 homes in park road and they asked if SHDC could be requested to remove it.

The Chairman and other members of the Council agreed to walk around the Cemetery and remove saplings growing in the cemetery.

12.   TO RESOLVE TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION.

The Council resolved there was no requirement. The meeting closed at 8.47 p.m.
