LONG SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL 

Notes of the meeting of the Long Sutton Parish Council held on Thursday 28 JULY 2022 commencing at 7.25 p.m. at the Former Reform Church, London Road, Long Sutton 

Present:   With Cllr J Clarey in the Chair there were present: Councillors T Watts, H Feetham, F Heinrich-Tiller, M Ladbrook, D Cawthorrne, R Barber, E Adams

OPEN FORUM – D Cllr D Wilkinson advised that SHDC had now engaged a contractor to enforce fly-tipping in the D Cllr J Tyrrell advised that he would be installing a seat on the Scout Hut car park in Park Road and he would insure it and be responsible for it. He added that the Youth Shed would commence in September 2022 in partnership with Boston College, the Spalding Garden waste collections on Fri/Sat would change date. He also advised that Sutton Bridge PC, Tydd St Mary PC and Lutton PC would be entering a joint float in the Spalding Flower Parade and asked if Long Sutton PC wished to join the venture.

A Member of the public asked if the Council had made a decision in relation to the proposed fireworks event.

Response: The Chairman advised that the fireworks event would be discussed in closed session and the Council would advise them of their decision and that the matter of the Flower Parade float would be placed on the agenda for discussion at the next meeting.

Replace damaged chain-link fence with matching palisade, install protective splash screen and bund wall adjacent to existing tanks. Formation of a lagoon and associated drainage arrangements. Princes Limited Bridge Road

12. Members Comments -To receive any comments from members of the council and requests for matters to be placed on the next agenda. No resolutions may be passed under this item.

13. To resolve to go into closed session in accordance with the Public Bodies (admissions to meetings) Act 1960 to discuss the following matters. Should this resolution be passed the public and press will be required to leave the meeting at this stage.

1.   APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies were received from Cllrs F Pearson

2.    TO RECEIVE DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST.

No Matters were declared.

3.   NOTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON  23 JUNE 2022

Action: It was resolved to approve the notes as minutes and a true record of the meeting held on 23 May 2022.

4.   CLERKS REPORT

The Clerk reported 

•   Emergency tree works had been carried out to a tree in Cinder Ash Park 
•   The access road from Wisbech Road onto London Road had been closed and bollards put in place. LCC would be providing planters in due course.
•   That further legal matters were required to be discussed in Closed Session.

5.   CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Cllr J Clarey advised that the Jubilee event was a great success despite the inclement weather and there were many very positive comments received on the day. In addition, the Lighting of the Beacon was also very successful with over 250 people in attendance.

6.   FINANCIAL MATTERS

a)   To resolve to approve Invoices for Payment

Action: The invoices for payment were approved.

b)   To resolve to receive the Report of Cleared Payments since Last Meeting

Action: The cleared payments were approved.

7.   CORRESPONDENCE

a.   To note General Correspondence
              
E-mail – Lincs CC – Traffic Safety Measures access road adjacent to 38 and 42 London Road.

Action: The Council resolved to thanks Lincs CC for resolving the dangerous hazards along the access road.

Citizens Advice – Invitation to Open Day.

Email – Resident issues in Winfrey Park.

Action: The Council resolved to advise that the required repairs had been carried out following the vandalism of the trim trail.

9.   TO RESOLVE TO CONFIRM A DATE FOR THE PARKS MEETING AND INSPECTION.

Action: The Council resolved that a meeting of the Parks Committee be scheduled fort 10 August 2022

10.   UPDATE ON OUTSTANDING TASKS.

i) Funding applications.

Action: The Chairman asked for this matter to be held in Committee.

11.   TO RESOLVE TO CONSIDER CANDIDATE APPLICATIONS FOR CO-OPTION TO THE COUNCIL

Action: Following a short presentation from all 3 candidates the Council held a blind ballot to fill the 2 vacancies. C Broughton and G Garratt were duly co-opted as members of the Council.

12.   MEMBERS COMMENTS

Cllr Cawthorn advised that he had received enquiries from the classic car and motorbike groups If the Council would be holding a summer event in 2023.

The Chairman advised that the Council had already provisionally agreed to hold a Summer Fete.

Cllr T Watts asked when the bunting would be taken down in the Market Place.

Cllr M Ladbrook advised that it would remain up until the Christmas for the Jubilee year and not just the time of the event.
