LONG SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL

CEMETERY GUIDELINES

IN ORDER TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS AND DISTRESS AND TO ASSIST WITH THE MAINTENANCE OF THE CEMETERY THE COUNCIL RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS THAT THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES ARE OBSERVED.
  • No permanent planting to be carried out in the Cemetery or Remembrance Gardens
  • No glass, porcelain or free standing objects i.e. vases etc., to be displayed.
  • No gravel, shingle etc., to be laid.
  • No concrete edging stones or ornamental fencing to be erected.
  • All Christmas Wreaths to be removed from the Cemetery by 31 January
  • All refuse, bottles, dead flowers etc., to be disposed of.
  • Cemetery water taps to be turned off after use.
  • Gravestones will be inspected as required by law on a regular basis. Should gravestones be found to fail the required topple testing the stone will be laid down as required in the interest of public safety.
  • All memorials to be no higher than 2’.9” in height and 2’6” in width
  • Remembrance Garden memorials are to be flat and not upstanding
  • All memorials are required to be ground anchored
  • All memorials should be insured and are the responsibility of the family
  • The parish council take no responsibility for the memorial
  • The parish council reserve the right to remove any items which infringe the cemetery rules
  • No dogs allowed in the cemetery with the exception of guide dogs
  • No parking on the cemetery grass area
